The intent behind SB-379 (Jackson), signed by Governor Brown in 2015, was to institutionalize climate change preparedness by mandating updates of municipal general plans. Cities and counties were given six years to prepare; the deadline for compliance was January 1, 2022. Unfortunately, only half of California’s municipalities complied with SB-379 by the deadline.

Nonetheless, did SB-379 advance California’s ability to handle climate impacts? This webinar will shed light on this question and feature key findings from the recent report by Farallon Strategies and Climate Resolve, “Ounce of Prevention; Advancing Equitable Climate Resilience Planning in California; status report on implementation of Senate Bill 379 (2015).”
