Science Speaks Series: Shrimply Blue: Restoring Lake Tahoe’s Clarity One Dog at a Time

FreeHow the new non-profit organization “Shrimply Blue” is inviting dogs and their human sidekicks to restore lake clarity one dog treat at a time. The Tahoe Environmental Research Center has identified invasive Mysis as a key contributor to clarity decline. By removing the surprisingly nutritious Mysis and transforming them into premium dog treats, Shrimply Blue is creating a regenerative system for sustainable lake restoration. Millions of people visit Tahoe each year, and for the first time ever people and their dogs can restore lake clarity by simply taking a bite out of the problem. We’re setting our sites on restoring Emerald Bay in 2021, and we’ll scale up to the broader lake from there. Join our journey, eat some Mysis, and learn how you can help us spread the word. Yuan Cheng is a recent UC Davis Graduate School of Management alumni and founding director of Shrimply Blue. He has 10+ years’ experience in product management, sales operations, and customer loyalty, and pursued his MBA at UC Davis to make an industry shift from software to sustainable food and agriculture. He’s passionate about pulling together diverse personalities and interdisciplinary teams to create unique solutions to today’s challenges.
Roger de Lusignan is a health care executive and serial entrepreneur with 25+ years of executive management experience. Significant achievements in finance, capital acquisition, business process re-engineering/automation, operations management, and business development. Leader of high-performance management teams in large, complex organizations and fast-paced entrepreneurial settings. In addition to working with Shrimply Blue, he provides executive mentorship to social entrepreneurs through the Miller Center’s Global Social Benefit Institute.
