Idaho-Maryland Mine Planning Commission Public Hearing
May 10, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Save the Date: Idaho-Maryland Mine Planning Commission Public Hearing on May 10
Thank you again for signing SYRCL’s petition urging the Nevada County Board of Supervisors to “SAY NO” to the proposed Idaho-Maryland Mine project. With your help, SYRCL gathered approximately 1,000 signatures from individuals across the community and beyond, expressing opposition to the project.
Now we need your continued support at upcoming Planning Commission meetings!
The Nevada County Planning Department has just scheduled the Planning Commission Public Hearing for the proposed Idaho-Maryland Mine project on May 10. The Public Hearing will continue on May 11, as needed.
We are putting out a call to all individuals who oppose the Idaho-Maryland Mine to join us at the Planning Commission Meeting in person on Wednesday, May 10 and make your position on the Idaho-Maryland Mine heard. This is one of our last significant opportunities to publicly display community opposition to the project before it comes before the Board of Supervisors and a final decision on the project is made.
Why is the Planning Commission meeting important?
The Planning Commission is charged with making two recommendations to the Board of Supervisors: 1) whether the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) should be certified, based on whether the analysis in the FEIR is complete and adequate and 2) whether to approve the project. The Board of Supervisors will then consider the Commission’s recommendation when they meet to take the final vote at a subsequent meeting. Your comments and participation are a critical part of this public process.
Thank you again for your support. Together we will stop the mine!
