October 5, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - October 10, 2020 @ 12:00 pm

The Tahoe Climate Change Action Network Presents

“Getting to Net Zero in Tahoe: Taking Local Climate Action”

This weeklong webinar series seeks to increase individual agency and understanding of climate change in Tahoe and globally.  Together we hope to craft a better future by acting to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA, September 7, 2020   The Tahoe Climate Change Action Network (TCCAN) is hosting an inspiring week of online events with opportunities to connect individual, community and regional efforts to the global movement to ensure we are counting down to a better, carbon neutral future.

The weeklong event brings together leaders engaged in bold action during a year when communities around the world are working in parallel toward a shared climate goal. All are invited to become part of this global effort of enacting climate solutions, elevating climate change as an issue of importance to the community, and modeling a way of life that cares for future generations.

For those who are curious, confused, or concerned about how climate change will affect them or their children, TCCAN offers this FREE webinar series created by and for Tahoe residents. In this series, TCCAN will:

  • Elevate climate change as an issue of importance to our community via direct engagement of decision makers including: Lake Tahoe Community College, the City of South Lake Tahoe, and LTUSD.
  • Empower, connect and inspire Tahoe youth to get educated and take action.
  • Promote job opportunities and programs that are climate-friendly.
  • Support the campaigns of climate action advocates who are running for local and regional offices.
  • Raise awareness about the urgency of achieving net zero emissions locally and globally.
  • Spread awareness about the global Countdown effort connecting people to the larger causes and movements (see countdown.ted.com).
  • Energize the biggest get-out-the-vote campaign in Tahoe.
