Climate Conversations: Nature-Based Solutions

April 27, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Join a discussion about how to better work with nature to build climate resilience and support human well-being and ecosystems.

Nature-based solutions such as restoring wetlands, planting trees in cities, and using cover crops can cost-effectively make communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change, as well as provide over a third of the mitigation needed to achieve the 2030 targets of the Paris Agreement. And while conservation groups; federal, state and local agencies; international organizations; and the private sector have begun integrating nature-based solutions into their work, they are not yet utilized to their full potential. Benji Jones (Vox) will moderate a conversation between Todd Bridges (University of Georgia) and LaKesha Hart (Louisiana Office of Planning and Budget) about the role of nature-based solutions and the challenges and opportunities in leveraging these approaches to address the climate crisis.

The webinar will be webcast on this page on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 3-4:15pm ET. Closed captioning will be provided. The conversation will include questions from the audience and will be recorded and available to view on the page after the event.

Climate Conversations: Pathways to Action is a monthly webinar series from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that aims to convene high-level, cross-cutting, nonpartisan conversations about issues relevant to policy action on climate change.
