Prescribed fire operations continue at Sugar Pine Point

California State Parks with the Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team (TFFT) is scheduled to continue understory burning this week on approximately eight acres in Sugar Pine Point State Park. The cooler temperatures and precipitation brought by fall and winter make conducting prescribed fires ideal. These low intensity fires mimic naturally occurring fire and is used to remove fuels. Additionally, prescribed fire smoke is generally less intense and of much shorter duration than smoke from unwanted wildfires.
