What We Can Achieve Together:

The Social Media Content Intern will be responsible for supporting the organic social media team in creating social media content that connects our followers to the places we protect around the world. By using their research skills and understanding of platform trends, this position plays an important role in informing TNC’s global social media strategy.

The intern will work closely with their supervisor to:

  • Conduct research about social media platforms, identify innovative content approaches, and stay up to date on the latest trends.
  • Create a social media campaign about the places TNC protects around the world, tailoring the content for each social platform and incorporating messaging about climate change and biodiversity.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Marketing & Communications, as needed, to support in the development of social media content.
  • Learn and use social media analytics to inform content creation and evaluate performance across platforms.
  • As needed, support the social media team in the execution of the weekly content calendar and community management.

TNC is seeking a mission-driven Social Media Content Intern who is eager to create their own social media content, share it with a global audience, and help advance TNC’s conservation goals.

We are looking for a Social Media Content Intern to fill a paid 10-week Summer internship. The intern can be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate (between 2022 and 2024). This position is home-based in the United States and will provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and real-world work. We offer an orientation, professional networking opportunities, and real-world work experience.

What You’ll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate (or graduate) program of communications, marketing, or related field, or a recent graduate with a degree in one of these or a related field.
  • Experience in research, writing, and editing.
  • Access to a reliable internet connection.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Close attention to detail, particularly related to design, photo and video.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of/interest in social media management and content marketing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Coursework and/or exposure related to communications/marketing.
  • Self-starter, taking initiative, and demonstrating confidence to ask questions and seek input.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Interest in data and how it is used to inform content production.
  • Experience writing social content for non-personal social media platforms.
  • Experience using a social media content management system or scheduling tool.
  • Comfortable with video narration and serving as a social media ambassador.
  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills.
  • An appreciation of the natural world.

Additional Job Information:

This is a full-time, remote, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 3 to August 9, 2024.

Eligibility:

The Nature Conservancy’s Internship Program candidate should demonstrate at least one of the following:

Intern Selection Process:

  • Applications will be screened for eligibility, qualifications and experience level related to the Internship.
  • Applicants will be notified of the next steps in the process within 3 weeks after application.
  • 2-3 video interviews will be conducted for selected applicants.
  • Additional information may be required before making a final decision.
  • All applicants will be notified of final selection by May 3.

Salary Information:

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $17/hr. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
