Wildflower Walk & Poetry Workshop
May 11, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Bear Yuba Land Trust on a guided walk through the spring blooms at Wildflower Ridge Preserve. This family friendly event is geared towards those new(er) to plant and wildflower identification, but open to all lovers of nature and beauty.
Following the walk, let the wildflowers be your inspiration as you take pen to paper for a poet-led writing workshop. During the activity, participants will have the opportunity to create and share their own writing about California’s unique land, water, flora, and fauna and reflect upon the impact of conservation on our community.
To best accommodate all levels of knowledge and interest, we will be offering the wildflower walk and accompanying poetry workshop in two separate, but simultaneous sessions: one for adults and one for youth and their families (recommended for ages 9-17, though children of all ages are welcome to participate). When registering, please select the appropriate session.
What: Wildflower Hike & Poetry Workshop
Adult: Hike led by Shane Hanofee; poetry workshop led by Kirsten Casey
All Ages Family: Hike led by Raelynn Noel; poetry workshop led by Ingrid Keriotis
Please note that the Adult session has filled up. There are still available slots for the All Ages Family hike. As noted above, this session is geared towards youth ages 9-17, though children of all ages are welcome. Adults accompanying minors can sign up for this session as well.
When: Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10am to 12pm
Both sessions (adult and all ages family) of the Guided Wildflower Walk will begin at 10am. Each group will have about an hour of wildflower identification with their session leader before coming back together for the poetry exercise. There will be two different poetry prompts to accommodate for the different age groups.
