Sarinah Simons, a California State Parks Human-Bear Management Specialist, will share insights into Lake Tahoe Basin black bears, exploring their biology and behavior. Having worked many years with bears, she has many stories to share. Learn about the coexistence challenges as human and bear territories overlap, the importance of responsible interactions, and the crucial role we all play in preserving their wild nature.

The presentation will also cover practical guidelines for homeowners, hikers, and tourists on best practices to minimize conflicts and protect the natural ecology of these charismatic creatures.

Sarinah Simons is an avid outdoorswoman, environmental filmmaker, and lover of all things nature and wildlife. She has worked for California State Parks and with bears since 2016 and continues to be amazed by the intelligence and resiliency of black bears every day.
