Understanding the Past, Embracing the Future

As trail stewards, we seek to enhance access and opportunities for all trail users, while finding a balance between recreational use and resource protection. This takes the willingness to reflect on our history, the desire to take responsibility for our actions, andthe ability to anticipate future conditions and needs.

At this year’s event, we will explore the past, present and future of the role of trails in our ever-changing world.

Call for Awards Nominations!

The Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for outstanding projects, programs, and people for recognition at California Trails & Greenways 2024. This program is an opportunity to bring acknowledgement and appreciation to individuals, organizations, and agencies who have made exceptional contributions to trails and greenways during the 2023 calendar year. Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program

The Karl Knapp Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program provides financial support for a select number of students and young professionals (ages 18-25) to attend the event who otherwise may not be able to attend. This program honors the many years of dedicated service by Karl Knapp to California State Parks and his devotion to California Trails & Greenways. Please see the Program Flyer and the Application Information for more information and eligibility details.
