Sierra Nevada Alliance: Full Moon Snowshoe Hike!
Join the Sierra Nevada Alliance for a fun and educational evening under the April Full Moon as we hike Hope Valley by snowshoe or cross-country ski. Join us beforehand for an optional dinner at Sorensen’s Resort at 6:00 pm.
Date: Tuesday, April 11 7:30–9pm
Location: Hope Valley, meet at the intersection of highways 88 and 89.
Details: Meet at the Yurt at the intersection of highway 89 and highway 88 at 7:15 pm. From there we go on a short walk/ski around the meadow. The Alliance has a few pairs of snowshoes to loan out (please contact us if you’d like to borrow a pair) and will provide a few pairs of binoculars and moon maps, but please bring any tools or maps you’d like! The walk should be easy to moderate with stops along the way to share cultural and science stories about the Moon, including its origins.
Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you would like to join for the dinner beforehand at Sorensen’s Resort at 6 pm.

TERC Lecture: the Endangered Yellow-legged Frog!
In the Sierra Nevada, 90 percent of the Mountain yellow-legged frogs have been disappearing due to an amphibian pathogen and loss of habitat from fish introductions in our lakes. An ambitious and promising effort is underway to recover these frogs, and this approach may be applied to conserving other threatened amphibians globally. Join Dr. Roland Knapp from the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory to learn more about the recovery effort.

California Water Policy 26 Conference!
The 26th annual California Water Policy Conference is preparing for their first ever visit to beautiful San Diego. The conference will be held April 6 & 7, 2017, and will bring together water leaders representing agricultural, environmental, urban, environmental justice, government, and private sector constituencies and perspectives, as well as interested individuals from the general public.

The Sugar Pine Foundation would like to invite our community to plant trees in the American fire with the Auburn Kiwanis, join Salesforce Corp employees in Washoe to restore the Little Valley Fire, and help plant 1000 trees in the Emerald Fire near South Lake Tahoe.

Bear Yuba Land Trust: Spring BioBlitz Dayz!
Bear Yuba Land Trust (BYLT) invites students, families and community groups for the First Annual Community BioBlitz, a citizen science event held on five beautiful nature preserves this spring, to identify and collect data on many species of plants, animals and fungi!
Friday, May 5, Nevada and Yuba county school groups will visit Black Swan Preserve, Rice's Crossing Preserve and Woodpecker Wildlife Preserve. The whole community is invited on Saturday, May 6 to visit Adam Ryan Preserve, Garden Bar Preserve and Rice's Crossing Preserve at French Bar.
All the data compiled for BYLT will be uploaded to the iNaturalistdatabase, and becomes a permanent record.

Location: Garden Bar Preserve and Rice’s Crossing Preserve South, respectively.

Cycle The Sierra: 2017 Registration Open!
Cycle the Sierra is an annual cycling event that takes place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. This fully supported, five-day journey takes riders on a 300-mile loop through breathtaking country, beneath granite peaks, through evergreen forests and to alpine hot springs.
