The Yosemite/Sequoia Resource Conservation and Development Council (Y/S RC&DC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is requesting proposals for services for the “Boyer-Homestead Rd. Fuel Break” project in Bootjack, Mariposa County. Funded by CAL FIRE, this project involves developing a 1.5-mile, 150-foot shaded fuel break along Boyer-Homestead Road, covering approximately 70 acres of private land. The goal is to reduce wildfire intensity and prevent fires from spreading by thinning vegetation and fuels. This will create a firebreak that prevents crown fires and provides a safe zone for suppression crews. The estimated project cost is between $270,000 and $350,000. Proposals for required services are now being accepted.
