At Sierra Nevada Alliance, we are thrilled to welcome three exceptional individuals to our Board of Directors: Julia Helmreich, Kevin Prior, and Bob Boughton. Each brings a wealth of experience, passion, and expertise that will help guide our mission to protect and restore the Sierra Nevada for future generations.

Julia Helmreich joins us after an impressive 27-year career at the Rural Community Assistance Corporation, where she spearheaded fundraising and communications efforts, securing over $500 million for the organization. Her expertise in development, media relations, and strategic planning will be invaluable in helping us diversify our funding sources and strengthen the long-term sustainability of the Alliance. In retirement, Julia continues to pursue her love for the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, and backpacking—a perfect fit for our mission!

Kevin Prior brings extensive leadership experience in land conservation as the Director of the Land Division at the California Tahoe Conservancy. Managing over 6,900 acres of public land, Kevin has been instrumental in advancing climate resilience, public access, and land restoration initiatives. A dedicated outdoor enthusiast, his firsthand experience as a whitewater kayaker, raft guide, and mountain biker fuels his commitment to preserving the landscapes he loves. His expertise in both finance and land management will be a tremendous asset to the Alliance’s conservation efforts.

Bob Boughton has dedicated his life to environmental sustainability, both professionally and personally. A lifelong Californian, Bob’s love for nature was shaped by childhood trips to the coast redwoods and High Sierra. With a background in Environmental Engineering and a career at the California EPA focused on sustainability and pollution prevention, he has been a strong advocate for ecological preservation. Now a docent at two state parks and a board member of the Calaveras Big Trees Association, Bob is committed to fostering collaboration in restoration and conservation efforts throughout the Sierra.
