Wildlife Technician – USFS Inyo National Forest

Mammoth Lakes, California

The Technician will assist Inyo National Forest with completing Pre-implementation wildlife surveys associated with on forest timber management projects. This will include various types of wildlife survey and monitoring work in timber project areas on Inyo NF. The technician will work closely with the North Zone Wildlife Biologist as well as the Timber Staff and District Ranger.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to hike 2-15 miles a day with 30lbs of equipment in mountainous terrain
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with others
  • Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources
  • Ability to drive on un-paved roads and off-road trails

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in bird nesting surveys and Point Counts
  • Knowledge of Eastern Sierra bird species and their calls
  • Previous work in a field-based setting for timber operations
  • Knowledge in data collection software such as ArcGIS Online, Survey 123, and FieldMaps
