About SYRCL and Wild & Scenic Film Festival:

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a program of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL), a watershed conservation organization located in Nevada City, CA.  Created in 2003, this 5-day in person and virtual festival draws more than 7,000 attendees and launches an annual On Tour program designed to raise awareness and encourage grassroots environmental action internationally.  This festival is one of SYRCL’s core programs and as our largest annual event, it helps support SYRCL’s work organization wide.

Position Summary:

The Festival Coordinator works on a team in the production of one of the largest festivals of its kind in the US, taking place each February in Nevada City and Grass Valley, CA.  Under the supervision of the Festival Director and Operations Manager, the Festival Coordinator is responsible for ticketing and serving as filmmaker liaison for SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival, taking place Feb. 13-17, 2025. The Festival Coordinator will also support aspects of the virtual festival.

Responsibilities:

Ticket Management: 

  • Manage all tickets via Eventive platform, as well as pass printing and sales.
  • Manage ticket database including tracking of sales and comp passes.
  • Organize box offices and oversee ticketing for the virtual platform.
  • Manage guest and will-call lists.
  • Train and utilize volunteers as needed.
  • Generate ticket sales reports and final post-event reporting.

Filmmaker Liason:

  • Notify filmmakers of Official Selection and manage all incoming deliverables.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of tech schedule (run of show).
  • Manage film information across all communications and platforms, including festival program, website, Hubspot, Eventive, and online festival.
  • Coordinate all logistics for attending filmmakers and special guests, including lodging, transportation, speaking opportunities, ticketing, filmmaker resources, and communications
  • Assist in planning Friday night Filmmaker Party, including guest list management, layout, supplies, etc.
  • During the festival, help manage and oversee Headquarters and the Green Room. Be the primary contact for all special guests’ needs and address any ticketing or attending filmmaker questions.
  • Assist with coordination of Emcees.
  • Additional administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a high energy office setting and a drive to do what it takes to get the job done well; nonprofit work experience a plus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious, provides follow-through on areas of responsibility, and is detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, ticketing software, databases, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Positive, self-motivated, and quick learning performer highly valued.
  • This position requires discretion with sensitive information.
  • A sense of humor is a must!

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent computer use and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Compensation:

This full-time, temporary position will pay $20-$22 per hour, DOE.

SYRCL’s temporary employees are not eligible for health/vision/dental insurance benefits or paid Personal Time Off (PTO). 40 hours of Sick Leave will be granted, and you are eligible to take sick time after 30 days of employment. SYRCL does not pay out any unused sick leave upon termination of employment. Given the duration of your employment, you will also be eligible for paid Holidays.
