The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, is a local philanthropic and community-based organization in Truckee, California. Our mission is to bring together trusted partners to align strategies and inspire philanthropy to nurture a resilient community and environment.

The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) is seeking a Program Director for our Forest Futures initiative. We are looking for a seasoned facilitator and project manager with (1) deep knowledge in environmental philanthropy, climate critical priorities for the Sierra Nevada and (2) the ability to swiftly integrate with our team and take on our fundraising strategy to lead our efforts to improve forest health through market-based solutions. Candidates should have a background in environmental science and experience managing collaborative projects with various partners and political entities. Must have excellent communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, be capable of understanding stakeholder needs and building trusting relationships. This position reports to the CEO.

Duties Include:

  • Lead Forest Futures Impact Strategy and work with TTCF leadership in fundraising and donor engagement
  • Facilitate a variety of public meetings and internal working groups to drive strategy and execution of our program
  • Deliver public-facing events designed to educate and inform community members and stakeholders on key issues related to forest health, public safety and emerging forest economy opportunities
  • Manage a portfolio of stakeholder/grantee relationships through funding pipeline
  • General Project Management

Qualifications:

  • Academic or professional background in environmental science and climate action
  • Seasoned experience in community engagement efforts
  • 5 years minimum in role(s) in which facilitation is required
  • Experience in event management (large and small)
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively
  • Proven experience in working across multiple agencies and stakeholders in a collaborative role
  • Comfort level with basic financial analysis and budgeting
  • Strong data, research and analysis skills
  • Strong written and presentation skills
  • Experience in environmental philanthropy is a plus

As a Community Foundation, we take pride in our commitment to community building through trusted partnerships, which necessitates a certain level of in-person engagement. While hybrid flexibility is possible, there is an expectation of being on-site during orientation, training and development sessions, staff in-service days, as well as in-person for community partner events and TTCF programmatic and strategy meetings. This position is full time, exempt with a salary range is $85,000-$90,000 – negotiable depending on experience. Benefits are included.

Job Description:

Estimated hours: 40 hours per week

Programmatic Strategy & Alignment : Estimated 12 hours per week

  • Develop annual Work Plan aligned with TTCF’s Strategic plan
  • Strategize and provide recommendations for collaboration and process
  • Develop deep understanding of the local, state and national efforts to address climate action, specifically through forest innovation by researching best practices, reading articles and books and approaching the work with interest and dedication of moving forward
  • Collaborate with TTCF Community Impact officer to align environmental fund distribution across various grantmaking cycles
  • Oversee quarterly production of dashboard with agreed upon metrics
  • Oversee consultant contracts, timely and quality deliverables, and invoicing to TTCF
  • Track and archive work products
  • Manage to and report on schedules and budgets

Relationship Building and Partner Management Estimated 12 hours per week

  • Build & maintain trusted relationships on behalf of TTCF with key agencies, nonprofits and community stakeholders
  • Develop partnership activities the reinforce relationships and interconnected nature of “people and place”
  • Serve as the lead spokesperson for Forest Futures and ensure that TTCF is represented at regional and industry-based working groups, meetings and conferences
  • Serve as lead program officer for the Forest Futures including the identification and evaluation of fund distribution activities for the Initiative Including grantmaking and potential impact investments
  • Manage an active portfolio of $5MM+ grantees and project deliverables upholding appropriate controls for all funding agreements
  • Analyze and summarize partner and grantee-provided information to inform ongoing development of programmatic strategy relevant to community-identified opportunities and challenges

Meeting/Event Strategy and Facilitation: Estimated 6hours per week

  • Host/Facilitate meetings and events (large and small)
  • Serve as the neutral, impartial facilitator of the various stakeholder meetings
  • Engage volunteers, entrepreneurs, investors and funders to mobilize strategy and support the work

Community Outreach & Education: Estimated 6 hours per week

  • Serve as the main community contact for Forest Futures inquiries
  • Serve on key Partner Agency task forces and working groups as determined by TTCF’s CEO
  • Attend key public meetings in which forest efforts that are aligned with TTCF’s interests are being discussed
  • Ensure that meetings and events are promoted in ways that are accessible to both community and donors.
  • Plan and execute in person and online Forest Futures salons including identification of topic, content development, marketing and session delivery
  • Contribute to message and content development for initiative-based communications

Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Estimated 4 hours per week

  • Support fundraising activities
  • Work with Development Team to submit grant proposals & reports
  • Participate in donor development for program areas, as needed
  • Oversee grant reporting on program grants to ensure accurate content, strategic perspective and impact metrics
  • Oversee and help develop public facing and donor reports, including narrative on outcomes and budget for Impact Quarterly Report
