Position Overview
The Pacific Northwest Regional Manager will focus on achieving certification growth and maintenance targets while prioritizing the needs of certificate holders in the Pacific Northwest. Certificate holder site visits, events, and collaborative engagements with the Science and Certification team will be key components of the role, emphasizing the importance of building strong relationships, driving certificate holder loyalty, and acquisition of new certificate holders. This position will also be tasked with prospecting and acquiring new certificate holders, with the support of the Senior Manager, Certification, and Business Development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Relationships in the Pacific Northwest Region:
- Engage with current and potential FSC Forest Management Certificate Holders to discover how FSC US can strengthen or improve the relationship to create a culture of success.
- Be a conduit to feed FM CH concerns and successes to the Policy and Standards team.
- Engage with nontraditional FSC groups to enhance their understanding of FSC and how it works, and dispel myths and rumors.
- Be available to support Certificate Holders and answer questions.
- Engage with FSC International as needed to build relationships beneficial to the FSC US mission.
Build Value for Certificate Holders in the Pacific Northwest:
- Develop tools in collaboration with other FSC US team members that aid FSC US FM growth and compliance.
- Be a matchmaker between CoC and FM certificate holders.
- Drive greater recognition of the FSC Ecosystem Services Platform among FMs and identify potential projects.
Business Development:
- Acquire and onboard new certificate holders through your prospecting or as follow-on leads provided by the Senior Manager, Certification and Business Development.
- Acquire a deep understanding of the woods product business in the Pacific Northwest Region, including existing and developing markets.
- Build relationships with existing state forestry staff, land trusts, industrial foresters, loggers, and trade associations to provide service and discover opportunities.
This role requires up to 40% travel for site visits, events, and engagement with certificate holders and prospects to drive FSC growth.
You may be expected to contribute to our success by performing additional duties that support our vision, mission, and values.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an SAF accredited University with a degree in Forestry or Natural resources.
- Five plus years of experience in progressive roles within the forestry community, preferably with a work history that focuses on the Pacific Northwest Region.
- Practical forest industry knowledge or experience, especially in wood procurement, harvesting, and forest management.
- Ability to recognize divergent viewpoints and facilitate dialogue relating to FSC centric topics and policy matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate in a remote team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with a commitment to continuous learning.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
