Outreach Coordinator – The Tahoe Fund

The Tahoe Fund is seeking a dynamic storyteller who is passionate about our mission to improve the Lake Tahoe environment for all to enjoy. With more than 50 projects a year with over 30 partners, we have a lot of great stories to tell.
As Outreach Coordinator you will have two primary roles: supporting the Tahoe Fund’s communications outreach efforts and Co-Chairing the Take Care/Stewardship Action Team of the Destination Stewardship Council. This position reports to the Communications and Program Director. In addition to the tasks outlined below, you may also be called on to support general Tahoe Fund efforts.
Tahoe Fund Communications and Outreach:
- Manage Tahoe Fund social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn). This includes sourcing and developing content for posts and stories, posting across platforms, daily management, and community engagement on all platforms.
- Draft press releases on Tahoe Fund programs, partnerships, and other announcements
- Create and send email blasts on Tahoe Fund announcements through Mailchimp
- Oversee outreach events calendar during the summer, including securing and staffing tabling opportunities
- Help coordinate Tahoe Fund events, assist in event preparations, assist in the set-up and break-down of the event
Take Care/Stewardship Action Team:
- Work collaboratively with the Destination Stewardship Council co-leading the Stewardship/Take Care Action team which is one of 5 action teams supporting the implementation of the Destination Stewardship Plan
- Collaborate with the Destination Stewardship Council Managing Director and Communications and Messaging chair on implementation of Action team metrics
- Organize and attend bi-weekly Take Care Action Team meetings in coordination with the other Co-Chair, including developing the agenda, taking notes, and following up on action items
- Coordinate new stewardship messaging with the Take Care creative team and promote adoption of the Take Care campaign through presentations and community outreach
- Oversee the Take Care Tahoe website; approving submitted events and making appropriate updates
- Promote the Take Care Tahoe website among partners, ambassadors, and the general public
- Oversee advertising buy with Google Ad Words; search engine optimization
- Manage the info@takecaretahoe.org email account; respond to inquiries and answer questions
- Develop social media plan and coordinate social media outreach
- Source editorials and press releases about local stewardship activities and actions
Required Skills:
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- The ability to quickly learn new programs and work independently on multiple projects
- Detail oriented with solid and accurate data collection skills
- Collaborates with stakeholders across the Tahoe Basin
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to think proactively and prioritize work
- Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to staff, donors, volunteers, and board members
- Have a passion for the local community and Tahoe Fund’s mission
- Experience organizing events
- Experience facilitating and/or participating in group meetings
- Independent, highly motivated, and able to meet deadlines with limited supervision
- Experience using Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Meta for Business, Google suite
- Ability to travel throughout the region
- A clean driving record and a safe vehicle to travel to events in the Tahoe Region – all mileage will be reimbursed at IRS published rate. (2024 IRS rate is .68/per mile)

Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation based on experience. Starting salary will be in the $50k-$55k range.

Hours:
- This position is full-time, non-exempt.
- Traditional office hours are 8:30am to 5pm.
- During event season, there will be flexible hours as we realized most events are held on weekends and evenings.
Where We Operate:
Work will take place in a general office environment working out of the Tahoe Fund office space in the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Incline Village, Nevada, and remotely out of your home office if you decide to set up a home office. Events will take place around the Tahoe Region and occasionally in the Northern California and Northern Nevada region.
