Assistant to the Executive Director – BEAR League

The BEAR League is a non-profit organization located on the shores of Lake Tahoe, California committed to our mission of People Living In Harmony With Bears and all Tahoe’s wildlife. For over 25 years, we have been a voice for coexistence via education outreach and our one-of-a-kind 24/7 community hotline. Our work has been published in the international, peer-reviewed journal URSUS and we are recognized as experts in bear behavior by local, national, and international media.
We are looking for an Assistant to our Executive Director at our Tahoe headquarters. Our ideal candidate will have some experience working with wildlife (as we also rescue and rehabilitate many local animals and birds) as well as being good with the public. We need someone physically strong as some heavy lifting may be required. Adaptability in times of stress, as well as a flexible attitude, are big plusses. Because of the 24/7 nature of our work, this is not a typical 9-5 job. Not all Tahoe bears hibernate, but typically, we are over-worked Spring through Fall and can relax a little in Winter. This is a salaried position, and housing/utilities are provided on site.
