Swanton Pacific Ranch is hosting an event through CalPoly to introduce people to the California Vegetation Treatment Program (CalVTP).

This introductory training will increase one’s understanding of California’s foundational toolkit for mitigating the fuels component of the wildfire crisis while increasing ecosystem health and services. Attendees will learn how the CalVTP meets California’s increasing wildland-urban interface fire challenges on state and local land, and how to begin planning and executing vegetation treatments such as prescribed burning and grazing, shaded fuel breaks, herbicide application and more in their own communities. Topics covered include identification of costs and benefits, common stakeholder viewpoints, and how and where to access resources.
