Hike for the stars and support local trails with BYLT’s third annual Summer Star Hike Challenge! This year’s hike challenge offers increased opportunity for participation, with hike challenges for a wider range of mobility; three separate raffles to increase odds of winning amazing prizes; and more stars by which to challenge yourself and discover something new! We’re talking 20 stars along 20 local trails.

Pre-registration for this event is required: registration is $25 per person, $15 for participants under 18. All registrations include entry into the Summer Star Hike Challenge, 2025 Summer Star Hike Challenge SWAG, and a Star Map to help locate the stars. All proceeds from the Star Hike Challenge support the programs and mission of Bear Yuba Land Trust.

HOW IT WORKS
Register at the “Get Tickets” button to hike in one of the three categories: Bear, Yuba General, Yuba Youth.

BEAR: All Persons Accessible Trails: 5 stars hidden along 5 local trails
All Persons Accessible Trails are defined as wheelchair accessible

YUBA: General / Youth Includes the 5 stars in the Bear category plus an additional 15 stars for a total of 20 stars hidden along 20 local trails

1. During the registration process, you will choose the desired hike challenge for you and any family members.
2. From June 1 -26, use the Star Map you receive with registration to visit as many different star locations as possible. PLEASE NOTE: The Star Map will be emailed to you on May 31, 2025.
3. A QR code will accompany each star on the trail. Scan the QR code and fill in your information on the form to submit your entry. Each star you find and submit equals one entry into the raffle. (If you do not have service, take a photo of the QR code and place your entry when you return to an area with service.)
4. The more stars you find, the greater the chances to win one of many exciting raffle prizes! There are three separate raffles, one for each category of entry: Bear, Yuba General, Yuba Youth (under 18). You will be entered into the raffle corresponding with your category. Raffle winners will be drawn at our Celebration of Trails Street Party on Saturday, June 28, 4-8pm on Commercial Street in downtown Nevada City. You do not need to be present to win.
5. For bonus entries into the raffle drawing, take a selfie with each star and tag #summerstarhikechallenge2025 (participant’s social media account must be set to public or we will not be able to see your tagged photos).
6. Entries will be accepted until 9:00pm on June 26. Entries after this time will not be counted (though you are welcome to continue hiking for the stars through early July).
7. Mark your calendar for the Celebration of Trails Street Party on Saturday, June 28, 4-8pm and come out and celebrate with your fellow hikers! The event will be held along Commercial Street in downtown Nevada City, with live music from Jessica Malone, hike challenge awards, Summer Star Hike Challenge raffle drawing, and more! This is also a great opportunity to pick up your Summer Star Hike Challenge SWAG.

HOW TO ENTER
Register for one of the three categories:

• Bear: All Persons Accessible Trails (5 stars)
• Yuba General: Includes the 5 stars in the Bear category plus an additional 15 stars
• Yuba Youth: Persons under the age of 18. Same as Yuba General, but with its own raffle

Adult registration- $25 per person

Youth registration (under 18) – $15 per person

All registrations include entry into the Summer Star Hike Challenge, 2025 Summer Star Hike Challenge SWAG, and a Star Map to help locate the stars (the map will be emailed to you on May 31, 2025).

Then get out and hike for the stars, June 1 – 26!
