About the Sierra Protection PAC (SPPAC)

The Sierra Nevada counties have many local candidates stepping into the political sphere for the first time, driven by their passion for their communities, families, democracy and the environment. Whether new or experienced, most candidates are deeply familiar with local issues and the needs of the offices they are running for. These seats are key to establishing a progressive electoral bench, community well-being, educational success, and local environmental and social justice work. Many are swing seats or new progressive opportunities that require long-term support to secure and protect.

The Sierra Protection PAC (SPPAC) will provide financial endorsements, empowering community-driven and environmentally focused candidates to compete and win their races. By building this essential infrastructure, we can establish the early financial support needed to help elect leaders who will protect our environment and advocate for the well-being of our local communities.

This PAC will join a statewide network dedicated to electing environmental champions to local offices, a networkthat has already established nine local league PACs across California, targeting key battleground regions. We believe in investing in down ballot races to build a strong bench of diverse climate champions across the state. Each local league plays a critical role in impacting local races and supporting local environmental voices, not only by providing financial contributions, but also recruiting, training, and supporting new leadership and encouraging youth engagement and participation in local political processes.
