Location: Granlibakken, Tahoe City

Wildfire is reshaping the landscapes of California and our understanding of how forests function and recover is more urgent than ever. This presentation explores how Dr. Andrew Latimer and UC Davis researchers are using advanced data science, remote sensing, and ecological modeling to understand fire behavior, assess fire risk, and predict post-fire forest resilience.

Through cutting-edge research on how climate change and land use are altering fire regimes, the work highlights the critical factors that influence where and how intensely wildfires burn—and what comes next. From modeling fuel dynamics to forecasting regeneration success, this science provides powerful insights for forest management, conservation planning, and climate adaptation.

Join us for a compelling look at how the latest UC Davis data-driven research is helping to protect California’s forests, communities, and biodiversity in a fire-prone future.
