Executive Director Peer Huddle
August 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Recently, the Sierra Nevada Alliance began to facilitate Executive Director Peer Huddles to enhance collaboration and professional development amongst Sierra conservation organizations. These meetings will be held every other month, with the next meeting slated for late August 27th, 2-4pm via Zoom. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org. At the June 30th Huddle, Executive Directors heard from the California Employers Association (CEA) on mid-year labor law updates and considerations in bringing back employees to work. They also heard from the Impact Foundry on the resources they provide in terms of helping to build a sustainable organization and building a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion organizational plan. All Alliance Member Groups can receive half off for these Impact Foundry workshops and the Alliance is using its annual membership with CEA to bring human resource training to Member Groups. Following these two presentations, attendees heard from development directors having success on ways to pivot and continue to build a successful development program during these uniquely challenged times. Attendees then discussed opportunities around green jobs and the challenges around legislative bond stall outs in California and how to move forward with building an organized consensus agenda for next year amongst the conservation organizations regionally. Finally, we brainstormed the format for these meetings moving forward with a deeper dive in conversation around HR issues and challenges faced by Executive Directors needing peer advice. This group is open to all California and Nevada conservation leaders working in the Sierra Nevada region.
