Food: On Friday 7/26/2024, CFSC will provide a build your own breakfast (bagels, muffins, fruit), build your own lunch (sandwich platter, bread, condiments) and an evening BBQ (burgers, etc.). Soft drinks and water will be provided as well.
Themes: We will be visiting the Creek Fire area, and the surrounding forest. Stops include soil effects of repeated high severity fire, meadow restoration, fuels treatments, drone imaging and postfire reforestation. We will present research on soil burn severity mapping with machine learning, the environmental effects of fire retardants, and biogeochemical impacts of repeated high severity fire. This will be a fun and engaging tour touching on critical topics in California forest soils, hydrology, ecology, forestry and geospatial modeling. We will include maps and geospatial data to be accessed via AVENZA (Free) on your phone or tablet as we get closer to the date. Check this google drive link for maps (TBD)!
