Join volunteer Ami Stroud for this strenuous hike on the South Fork American Trail on June 5th, 10:30am-3pm. This trail system is the proud result of over 20 years of work by ARC staff, many volunteers, BLM, and the state of California, to protect this critical watershed of 2,632 acres. We will walk through 5 habitats–riparian, chaparral, oak woodlands, grassland, and mixed conifer. We will see some of the 117 bird species and 1,000 native plants that thrive in this protected area. We will take a break at the edge of the South Fork of the American river before heading back. Total 7-miles with 1100 ft. elevation gain.

Well-behaved dog on leash OK. Responsible teens+ welcome.

5 DAY-USE parking fee or ACORN CREEK Annual Pass.

Meeting location in Pilot Hill. Rain cancels.
