The Feather River watershed in the Lost Sierra provides 27 million Californians with clean water and offers world-class recreation like kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and rock climbing.
The Wild & Scenic Rivers Act only protects a half-mile wide corridor along the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Adjacent wild lands and rivers are threatened by illegal roads, dumping, marijuana grows, and dredging—all of which could negatively impact the water source for 65% of California. Furthermore, an increased pressure to build more dams in California jeopardizes the Lost Sierra’s epic river running and fishing. Nearly 300 miles of rivers in the Lost Sierra meet Wild & Scenic River standards yet only 25% have been protected. More protections in the Lost Sierra are needed!
