American Rivers, an Alliance Member Group and SNAP host site, is working on a big project in Yosemite National Park, and is seeking public input.
The Ackerson Meadow Restoration Project is a big deal: over the last 160 years, the meadow has been used heavily for ranching, timber harvesting, and farming, resulting in significant erosion and gully development. This is causing active drainage of nearby wetlands. Ackerson Meadow was recently gifted to Yosemite National Park.
The project is a partnership between American Rivers, Yosemite National Park, and the Stanislaus National Forest. The hope is to restore the 230-acre meadow complex, and American Rivers is seeking proposals to complete this work.
