US Forest Service

For Immediate Release

March 15, 2023

PLACERVILLE, CA – The USDA Forest Service is seeking nominations to fill openings on the 15-member El Dorado County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC). Applications are requested by April 30, 2023.

The Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is established under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act to review and recommend projects that benefit national forest lands in El Dorado County. Funding is provided under Title II of the Act for projects that improve the maintenance of existing infrastructure; implement stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems; and restore and improve land health and water quality.

The current openings on the RAC are for representatives from: 1) wildlife, hunting, or watershed organizations; 2) a State elected official or their designee; 3) a County or local elected official; and 4) the affected public at large.

Committee members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture for a four year term. Members must reside in California, and to the extent practicable in El Dorado County. The committee meets several times each year in Placerville, typically once a month or less. Members serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for travel to meetings.

Nominees will be evaluated based on their experience with the interest area they represent, knowledge of forest resources, demonstrated commitment to collaborative decision making, and contribution to the balance and diversity of the RAC.

Visit the RAC committee page on the Eldorado National Forest website for more information about the duties and the two forms needed to apply for Resource Advisory Committee membership:

A letter describing your interest in serving on the RAC should also be provided. Applications must include original signatures and be mailed to:  ATTN: Michelle Wolfgang, RAC Coordinator, Eldorado National Forest, 100 Forni Road, Placerville, CA 95667.
